# Getting Started
# Software Installation
Here you can find all the relevant information regarding the software needed for your ATC Training and day to day operations.
You are kindly advised to have all the following Software and their Sectors/Profiles installed to your PC before your first mentoring session. If you are facing any difficulty with the installation it is better to just download the files and install them together with your mentor. It is not mandatory to download the LCCC Sector/vATIS profile as your initial training will be in Greece.
# EuroScope
### Introduction
Designed by Gergely Csernak and currently the most popular ATC client on the VATSIM network, EuroScope (ES) is customisable and designed to simulate real-life radar software, aiming particularly at European radar systems. It also features an innovative display, automatic controller coordination and a built-in simulation system.

# Audio For VATSIM
### Introduction
Even though EuroScope is the client that connects you with the VATSIM Network as a controller you will also need a voice client in order to be able to listen and talk to others. This standalone client is called Audio For VATSIM (AFV).
# vATIS
### Introduction
vATIS is a software used to generate ATIS information for specific airports (max 4). Controllers can choose which aerodrome configuration they are using (active runways etc.) and along with real-world weather, they can generate an ATIS.
Open vATIS, click "Insert" and choose the downloaded file
You can find the official vATIS Documentation here: [https://vatis.app/docs/](https://vatis.app/docs/)
### Setup
After you have downloaded AFV it is now time to set it up.
1. First you will need to download the vATIS Profiles for LGGG (and LCCC) found in the [Software](https://wiki.hvacc.org/en/software) section.
2. Then open up vATIS and you should see this: [](https://wiki.hvacc.org/uploads/images/gallery/2024-09/8Bux4LsF0GFuWYQM-image.png)
3. Press “Import” and select the LGGG (and LCCC) profile. Then you should see this:[](https://wiki.hvacc.org/uploads/images/gallery/2024-09/pE7JhAujt7DTPolt-vatis-main.png)

# Q&A
##### **How to become an Air Traffic Controller in a Hellenic Airspace**
- **I am interested in becoming Air Traffic Controller in Greece or/and Cyprus, what should I do?**
- First of all make your self familiar with the [Training Policy](https://wiki.hvacc.org/books/training-policy/page/training-policy "Training Policy"). We also encourage you to join our Discord Server to meet the training team. Then, visit our [Training System](https://cc.hvacc.org/), sign in with your VATSIM account and apply for a Training Course. So simple.
- **I signed up for ATC training some time ago but I haven’t heard anything yet.**
- You can find information regarding your training request and its status in our [Training System](https://cc.hvacc.org/). If your status is “In queue” this means that a human being has been notified for your request and you will have to wait until the status changes to “Pre-Training” where we will give you access to start the self-study theory part on [Moodle](https://moodle.hvacc.org/). Don't forget to check your VATSIM registered email for any updates!
- **How long is the queue?**
- Usually you must expect some waiting time depending on how many mentors are active and how many students are waiting in line. In some cases, this waiting time can be more than 6 months, so some patience will be needed.
- **I applied for training some weeks before someone I know but he/she has been assigned to a mentor before me. Why is this?**
- The sequence in which mentors are assigned to students, are not strictly by date of request. Other factors like current rating, type of training (rating upgrade/new controller/refresh) are also taken into consideration, because not all mentors are doing all kinds of training. Hence you cannot always expect to be assigned a mentor before another student, who signed up later than yourself.
- **I haven’t received a rating upgrade email after passing my checkout-mentoring, what is wrong?**
- It can last up to 72 hours before the rating upgrade has been processed by the network servers. In case you haven’t received your upgrade email within this period, please send an email to the training department at [training\[at\]hvacc.org](mailto:training@hvacc.org) including your VATSIM ID.
- **If I don't speak Greek can I apply for training?**
- If you select «English only training» in your application, you accept that you will experience bigger delays due to low availability of English-Authorised mentors.
